FEBRUARY 2018 UPDATE:
Construction is well underway.  The conduit has been run along neighborhood streets.  Here is a basic timeline, weather permitting:
Mid February: Fiber optic installed into mainline conduits
Early March: Fiber optic connected in conduits
Early to mid March: Conduit and fiber installed to individual homes
Mid March: service begins

Please keep in mind that more construction is to come for each home that signs up for service.  You will need to have your private utilities marked (dog fences, drainage tiles, wells, etc.) to avoid damage.  A contractor prematurely removed some homeowner-installed flags that will need to be re-marked by the residents themselves.

OCTOBER 2017 UPDATE:
A letter was sent to each home owner about the process.  Please the link above for details.

AUGUST 2017 UPDATE:
AES was contacted on 8/21 and assured us that construction will start in 2017.  Other projects have taken priority this summer, but DLE will be receiving service as soon as possible.

JULY 2017 UPDATE:
AES wasn't able to complete the bidding process in June, and now has a target date of late July to compile them and submit to the Boad of Works.  AES is hopefuly that construction can begin in September and service can be ready this fall.

IMPORTANT: This project will involve significant construction in DLE.  The boring, trenching, and other work will require homeowners to have all private utilities marked.  These include sump pump tiles, downspout tiles, dog fences, geothermal lines, etc.  Please keep in mind that AES will do their best to reseed and leave the area as it was originally, but there will be disturbance in yards.

MAY 2017 UPDATE:
AES has completed the design of the fiber optic system.  They are now taking construction bids for trenching and boring.  The bids will be presented at the June board meeting (I believe the planning commission).  According to the Outside Plant Manager, things appear to be on-track for a summer construction and go-live date this fall.

JANUARY 2017 UPDATE:

AES was unable to begin construction to DLE this fall, as they were finalizing the Bear Creek Estates project.  Directional boring requires that the ground is not frozen, so construction should begin this spring.  Thanks for your patience on this.  I know everyone is excited to see this project begin.

SEPTEMBER 2016 UPDATE:

Approval has been given for the AES project to DLE!  Construction will begin this fall and is estimated to finish over the winter months.  AES will charge an additional fee of $25 on top of their regular rates found on their site (click here for a link).  The $25 surcharge will go to $5 extra month after service has been in place at a residence for 10 years.  The $45 minimum for service will still be in place.  Here's a breakdown of the monthly cost many residents will experience for their service:

$45.95 Classic Internet Service (15 mbps down, 4 mbps up, no limit on use)

$20 Fiber connect fee (will be on for 10 years)

$5 Extraterritorial Fiber Loop Maintenance Charge (charged indefinitely)

$2 Battery Maintenance fee (charged indefinitely)

The total monthly fee is $72.95 for this service.

Obviously there are many other options for services, but this is an example of the fees charged.

Typical install / setup fees are approximately $100.  Feel free to arrange a consultation at your house with AES when the time arrives for services to be installed.

Finally, if you are currently under contract with another carrier but will be moving to AES when that expires, please let AES know when they are solicting residents to call to setup services.  This allows them to run necessary lines to your home while the contractors are onsite doing the infrastructure installation and will be much less hassle for everyone.

Original information posted in August:

As of August 2016, there are no hard-wired internet connections in DLE.  An effort by residents to gain another internet provider has resulted in Auburn Essential Services looking into running fiber optic services for phone / internet / TV to the neighborhood from the airport.

This project has a considerable pricetag, and AES is proposing a surcharge on top of their regular prices to recoup the costs of building the infrastructure.  In early 2016, the projected surcharge was estimated at $50 per month, but has since dropped to approximately $25 after construction price studies were completed.  The proposed surcharge will be for 10 years, then drop to $5 per month thereafter.

We need your help!  The more residents in DLE and along the path via 427 from the airport that can sign up for services, the lower the surcharge will be.  Please feel free to let others know about this news.  For information, call Tim Speer (DLE resident volunteering for this effort) at 260-925-2289.
